2009 FBS Breakout Player: Joey Votto
Joey Votto is entering his 3rd year of major league baseball. He's build in the make of another large power hitting left-handed first basemen. He has a long and deep stroke and can hit any type of pitch thrown from the fastball to the breaking ball. Last year he took huge step forward into becoming a true fantasy stud and this year he will be an All-Star. Watch Votto as he matures into the player we all expect as he starting only his second full season. I've been watching him since he was in AAA ball and he has always caught my eye as a 40 homerun guy in the majors. He won't get that quite this year, but soon enough. He stills need to develop some more plate discipline, but overall he's on a much better pace then most every player with roughly his time in service. Expect a big season from Joey Votto.
The True Guru Joey Votto Projections: .309 BA, 33 Hrs, 102 RBI, 6 SB
We feel he will achieve these projections through our formula based on our secret formula of 11 herbs and spices (its locked at Fort Knox). Of course we are assuming he stays relatively healthy for the entire season.

I love Votto this year. He looks that he is building up to a series of monster years. He will breakout, but I'm not sure I like your homerun totals.

Votto would be someone I would want to target. I don’t like to draft 1B early and you can get him 7th -8th round. Guys like Youkilis, Gonzalez, Lee, Pena, all get drafted 3-4 rounds earlier then Votto and all with similar stats. Also looking at the ADP Chris Davis 85.13 and Votto 89.92 now that is a through call. I would go with the safer pick in Votto. How about you Todd?
Alright Jason, WHO DO YOU WORK FOR? ESPN, CBS? During my first expert league draft, I had to choose between Chris Davis and Joey Votto. I agree with you on getting pop at first base later in the draft. I went with Chris Davis only because he can play 1B/3B and he plays in Texas (amongst other reasons). Both are young players, both should have great seasons. Tim McLeod told me that he was deciding between the same two players and I made his decision allot easier by taking Davis. Think about that. My pick, Davis.
